Seven oligarchs and 12 companies they control are on the new sanctions list. 17 senior Russian government officials are also on the list. Because of the sanctions, assets held by individuals in the US will be frozen. Americans are barred from doing business with those on the list. The US added 103,000 jobs in March The unemployment rate stayed flat at 4.1 percent. Wage growth is slightly up, at 2.7 percent from March of last year. The Washington Post is reporting that there is now a job open for every unemployed person in the country. President Trump Escalates Trade War Rhetoric Trump says he is looking into $100 billion in new tariffs on Chinese goods On Thursday, Trump said an escalation would be due to China’s “unfair retaliation” He’s referring to China’s 25% tariff on $50 billion worth of US exports, which was announced on Wednesday. United States farmers are expressing concern over tariffs that could impact crops like soy beans and corn. Dow futures dropped as a result.
