  • The Dow dropped 1175 points after recovering from a 1,500 point drop, the largest single-day loss ever, and Dow futures are now swinging wildly in value

Democratic Memo

  • The House Intelligence Committee voted unanimously on Monday to declassify a Democratic memo which claims to rebut Republican assertions that the F.B.I. and the DoJ had abused their powers to wiretap a former Trump campaign official
  • President Trump has 5 days to review the memo and determine whether he will permit or block its release

Carter Page was an FBI informant

  • Carter Page, the subject of the FISA memo, has a relationship with the FBI as an agent
  • A Washington Post article from June of last year reports that Carter Page assisted the FBI with an investigation into a Russian spy ring

Budget Showdown

  • After a two week extension, Congress faces another budget funding deadline this week
  • The House is set to vote late today on Republicans’ proposed stopgap spending bill, proposed at last night, which would keep the government open until March 23rd and provide full-year funding for the Defense Department
  • McConnell said he would allow the Senate to debate an immigration bill on its own after Friday if the government remains open

Bannon may be no-show

  • A source close to the process has said that former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon will not appear in front of the House Intelligence Committee today, risking being held in contempt for failing to comply with a subpoena
  • The source said this is due to a standoff between the White House and the committee over the scope of its questioning, and that Bannon would instead answer all of special counsel Mueller’s questions

Driver who killed Colts running back Edwin Jackson and his Uber driver was an illegal alien

  • Manuel Orrego-Savala is a 37-year-old illegal alien who was driving a Ford F-150 drunk as he struck an Uber at 4am on Sunday, killing its 54-year-old driver as well as its passenger, the Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson
  • Police say Orrego-Savala tried to flee the scene on foot but was arrested soon after, giving police the fake name of Alex Cabrera-Gonsales, with his blood-alcohol level tested at .239 percent, almost exactly three times over Indiana’s legal limit
  • Orrego-Savala has been deported from the U.S. twice, and has a separate drunk driving conviction from 2005 in Redwood City, CA

Paul Simon farewell tour

  • Beginning on May 16th in Vancouver, B.C., the 76-year-old musician will be taking a farewell tour
  • He reassured fans that he’s “never going to retire” from making music, and said that he’s “very grateful for a fulfilling career and, of course, most of all to the audiences who heard something in my music that touched their hearts.”
  • A biography of Simon is due out just eight days before the tour starts, on May 8th

Falcon Heavy launch

  • With a launch window from 1:30pm to 4pm Eastern, Elon Musk’s rocket company SpaceX will be launching the Falcon Heavy, its largest reusable rocket to date
  • It will be carrying a dummy payload in the form of a cherry red Roadster, produced by Elon Musk’s company Tesla
  • The Roadster will be adorned with three cameras, and trumps the payload put on the first SpaceX Dragon cargo capsule: a wheel of cheese
